Australian Mutuals History was sorry to learn of the recent passing of Col Chant, aged 90. Col was a Police Officer (Senior Sergeant) and foundation Director of Queensland Police Co-operative Credit Union (today known as QBANK).

Col served as QBANK Director from the formation meeting on 2 June 1964 until 2014. Boards of Directors were the engine rooms of early credit unions and Col served on many QBANK board committees including – the Credit Committee, Delinquency Committee, Promotion Committee, Loans Committee, Insurance Committee, Audit and Compliance Committee, Development Committee, Rule Book Committee, Costs Committee, Memorabilia Committee, Building Committee (which with Architect Eric Hebron was responsible for planning, designing and erecting the headquarters in North Quay, Brisbane) and the Historical Committee.

The Historical Committee conducted research and interviews that resulted in the publication of The History of QPCU 1964-2004. Australian Mutuals History assisted the QPCU Historical Committee with their research.
