Moving north of the border after our 1970s VCCA video from a fortnight ago, here is a small collection of TV ads promoting “Credit Unions” in the final few years of the Association of New South Wales Credit Unions (ANSWCU) before it was abolished in 1992 to be replaced by the national system overseen by CUSCAL (and today COBA).

We have spliced together four ANSWCU TV ads from 1989-1991 that were on our recently digitised 16mm film reels. They are surely interesting for several reasons and are each told from the perspective of an ‘underdog’ - a single mother, a small farmer, a migrant and a youngish man of modest means – and they all have the tagline “People before Profit”.

Remember these interesting and useful films would be lost without digitisation and that means the support of the customer owned banking community.
