Today we bring you an important short film held on VHS tape that we recently digitised. The film announces the Credit Union Association of SA’s Members Mortgage Fund in 1987. Geoff Doyle the General Manager of the Credit Union Association of SA is featured explaining the genesis of the $40 million fund:

The scheme had been under investigation by South Australian credit unions for almost a year. The state’s credit unions were concerned about not being able to offer a fully competitive home loan facility. They offered just about every other service but not home loans. As keen competitors in the financial market they knew that members’ demands for home loans had to be satisfied – Geoff Doyle

Along with details of this historic moment in South Australian mutual history, the film features shots of iconic South Australian credit unions such as Australian Central Credit Union (People’s Choice), CPS Credit Union and Satisfac Credit Union.

We hope you enjoy the film. See it here
