We hold a collection of over 600 films that come in all sorts of formats and cover many topics – including mutual TV advertisements. One of the 30 films on VHS video we recently digitised was this one produced by Calare Credit Union in 1996 promoting their car loan product.

Car loans have historically been an important product for credit unions – a movement and industry that offered members personal loans exclusively in the early years.

Calare Credit Union changed its name to First Choice Credit Union in 2006. It was registered as Calare Local Government Employees Credit Union Limited on 27th August 1970. It was formed by the staff of Canobolas, Boree and Molong Shires (now Cabonne Shire Council) and Orange City Council. It shortened its name to Calare Credit Union in 1981.
